Evening Activities

Evening Activities may include the entire group or just the field group, but each evening is finished with the whole group around the campfire.

Underground Railroad: A simulation, which allows students to experience the realities of this historical event by traveling as slaves on the Underground Railroad. They experience the risks at stake in their passage to freedom.

Night Hike: Students explore nature at night, learning the nocturnal habits of animals, observing constellations in the night sky, and understanding sensory adaptation.

Invention Convention: Students design environment-friendly inventions out of recycled trash and present their creations to their peers.

Night Live: Students participate in our positive, G-rated version of "Saturday Night Live". They can display their flair for drama by starring in skits.

Environmental Hearing: Students participate in a town meeting to debate economic and environmental issues relating to land usage, with an emphasis on compromise and cooperation.

Science Fair: Students participate in a evening full of science wonders.

Reflection Time : As each day draws to a close, the staff provides a meaningful skit or reading for the students to discuss. Students are then given a few minutes to quietly reflect on the lessons of these stories prior to being dismissed for the day.
